Midjourney July Gallery: The Exact Prompts Behind These Images

Welcome to the July Midjourney Gallery!
Today we’re exploring cities of the world in various styles, and I’ve included the exact words and phrases behind these stunning visuals - giving you an immediate visual “starting point” to spark your own creations.
A Quick Note on My Prompts:
Due to the nature of generative AI, running these prompts may produce a result with very minor variations from the image shown. My goal is to provide the exact recipe for the style, composition, and aesthetic, giving you a powerful starting point for your own art.

Stockholm
Each prompt will follow the formula of one subject, one SREF, and a “mashup” of two or three additional descriptors.
Subject: “Stockholm”
SREF: 3678576341
Substyle Keyword #1: “traditional Americana”
Substyle Keyword #2: “celestialcore cubism art”
It comes together like this:

Delhi
With these parameters:
SREF: 3369585033
Substyle mashup: “realistic depiction of light, photoillustration”
Additional emotive word: “hopefulness”
You can add or change any words you want! For this, “hopefulness” might be the sneak peak of light through the clouds:

Tulsa
You’ll notice that even with “Tulsa” as our first prompt, Midjourney will rely heavily on the substyle words you choose.
Substyle Keyword #1: “celebrity photography”
Substyle Keyword #2: “multi-dimensional perspective”
Emotion Keyword: “anticipation”
In this case “celebrity photography” forces the algorithm to prioritize a female face, literally moving Tulsa to the background:

Bangkok
And this one includes a notable assymetrical structure compared to some others.
Substyle Keyword #1: “juxtaposed hues”
Substyle Keyword #2: “multi-dimensional perspective”
But notice that we also see the “juxtaposition” of income inequality in this image, giving us “multi-dimensional perspectives” both aesthetically and thematically:

Munich
💡 At this point you may have wondered, “What’s with the techy stuff?”
Don’t worry - it’s all optional!
“UHD Image” = enhances clarity and natural realism (“ultra high definition”)
“8K” = Maxed-out sharpness and color pop (highest resolution on UHD-TVs)
“HDR” = enhances tonal range (“high dynamic range”)
Munich gives us a nice example with rich colors and deep blacks:

Warsaw
It clearly gets its monochrome look from the “black and white realism” substyle in the prompt.
Remember this great formula:
Prompt + Substyle + SREF = ❤️
In this case:
“Warsaw” + “black and white realism” + 889458608 = ❤️

Dubai
Start by collecting your favorite SREFs you’ve discovered over time. Combine this with a substyle list of words and ideas you’ve discovered.
💡 Remember that “substyle” is not an official Midjourney term, and I’m using it to represent literally any word you choose that modifies the default aesthetic.
There are no “wrong” substyles!

Boston
The image of a “punk rocker” superceded what would likely be a typical cityscape of Boston, as with most of the other city images in this post:

We have watery blue psychedelica from the SREF, and heavenly luminescence likely from inclusion of the word “faith”:

Quick Tip: If you like a specific aesthetic, you can then use the same SREF to apply the same “look” to any city you can imagine - even your own!
